Our
internal core network is built on the Cisco 4000
series of catalyst switches.
WFCS choose the Cisco 4000 series to be at the heart of
its core network. With switching capabilities
reaching over 60Gb/s and the ability to house up to 240
x 10/100/1000 network ports, these units are ideal for a
port hungry layer 2 switched internal network.
Each
unit runs a combination of 10/100, 10/100/1000 along
with short haul fibre interfaces and functions fully
redundantly via 3 hot swap power supplies.
WFCS maintain a full set of spares, including chassis,
blades, power supply units and supervisor modules
for the 4000 series catalyst switches they have in operation.
WFCS
run a full BGP+ enabled network utilising network connections from some
of the the best tier one providers in the World. Our border network is built using Cisco 6500 series switches with 720 3BXL supervisor engines.

on many years of SonicWALL experience, WFCS as a Gold Partner, have chosen
to use the SonicWALL 5060f fibre series of hardware firewalls to provide
border protection for their network.
Each of our firewalls are connected directly to our core network via
individual and separate 1Gb/s fibre connections. Each firewall is then
connected via multiple fibre and copper 1Gb/s connections to our core
Cisco 4000 series catalyst switches.
By utilising the full security capabilities available to us through
our border firewalls and systems that we run, we are
able to monitor and analyse traffic moving to and from our network. This
includes full logging and proactive action through Intrusion Detection
and Prevention along with anti spam and email based virus removal.
